Mentre i fan degli U2 attendono impazienti news sul futuro della band, silente da ormai troppi mesi,Bono collabora con K’naan in Bulletproof Pride, nuova canzone del rapper canadese che sarà inserita nel suo album Country, God or the Girl in uscita martedì prossimo e che contiene altri duetti con Keith Richards, will.i.am, Nelly Furtado e Nas. In realtà i due avevano già cantato insieme questo pezzo circa un anno fa, in occasione dell’evento benefico A Decade of Difference promosso dalla Clinton’s Foundation, ma oggi abbiamo finalmente l’occasione di ascoltare la versione definitiva registrata in studio.
A proposito della prestigiosa collaborazione, K’naan ha dichiarato che Bono si è innamorato di questo pezzo subito dopo averlo ascoltato ed ha voluto parteciparvi a tutti i costi. Il rapper ha perciò dovuto scrivere le nuove parti del brano da far interpretare al leader degli U2 e il risultato finale, come potete ascoltare voi stessi, è più che apprezzabile.

K’naan ha poi aggiunto altre parole di miele nei confronti di Bono, definendolo ‘molto più di un mentore‘ e, nonostante i tantissimi impegni artistici e umanitari, ‘sempre disponibile per le persone e per la musica a cui tiene‘.

Per chi non se lo ricordasse, il rapper canadese ma di origini somale K’naan è diventato celebre in tutto il mondo nel 2010 con la sua Wavin’ Flag, brano scelto dalla Coca Cola come inno dei mondiali di calcio in Sudafrica e diventato, insieme al Waka Waka di Shakira, la canzone simbolo della competizione calcistica.

Intanto nessuna novità sul fronte U2: si aspetta ancora il successore di No Line on the Horizon, uscito ormai tre anni e mezzo fa, ma da Dublino non giungono spifferi che facciano presagire annunci imminenti. Poco male, d’altronde non si dice che le attese infinite rendano più dolci le conquiste?
